AUTHOR EVENT with Maine Author & Curler DAVID FLORIG—Thurs, March 21st at 6pm

Have you ever wondered about the sport of curling? What is with the ice, the stone, and the broom that has captured the curiosity and interest of millions of fans around the world and why has the sport now found its place in the Olympics? Join Maine author David Florig as he introduces his new historical novel, The Stones of Ailsa Craig, set in present-day Belfast, Maine, and 1880s Scotland. Although the sport of curling provides the context, the novel centers around one man’s loss, loneliness, obsession, and search for justice. Sometimes dark, sometimes light, the novel is full of curling history and anecdotes, Scottish history, and Maine history. The Stones of Ailsa Craig also features a foreword by United States Olympic curler Tara Peterson. The book will appeal to fans of historical fiction and mysteries.

This Author Event will take place Thursday, March 21st at 6:00pm at the Readfield Town Office at 8 Old Kents Hill Road. The event will include readings, a curling stone made from 60-million-year-old Scottish granite, and plenty of time for Q&A. Books will be available for sale and signing as well; cash and check accepted. All ages are welcome to this free event, which is sponsored by the Readfield Community Library and Readfield U (a free pop-up University). The event will be held in-person, but a Zoom option is also available.
